Last week the crew of Room 18 made some amazing boats, rafts, yachts and...submarines as part of our 'RISE ABOVE' topic.  Check out the awesome creations made at home and at school.

We then tested their speed and buoyancy in the small pool!  Results were varied to say the least..but a lot of fun was had by all!!

Last week we headed over to Nelson College to view the ICC World Cup trophy.  He got our photos with the trophy as well as being signed by Sir Richard Hadlee (one for the mums and dads).

Last Friday we had our first ever House Tug-of-war competition!  All houses had some level of success but it was Van Diemen who proved to be the strongest house overall, coming away with some much needed points and closing the gap in the overall house points behind Hampden and Waimea.

This term we are looking at principles or sinking and floating, alongside boat design and evolution.

Don't Stop Believing! - Behind the Scenes

Amazing artists!

Katie and Trizar spent all day yesterday doing art with Mrs Armstrong and the rest of the Middle Syndicate Art enrichment group.  They focused on doing 3 different animals.  To begin with they used watercolour pencils and paint to do a chameleon.  Then they produced a pastel cat.  To finish off they used chalk pastels to create a mythical horse.

Welcome to the Middle Syndicate...for ants!

The middle syndicate maths enrichment team have spent the last 3 weeks looking at scale.  First we enlarged a lego minifigure from cm to m, then we measured up the middle syndicate and made a scaled down version.  Check it out!!
