Rembrandt remastered
What a busy (but fascinating) week! All the classes from the Middle Syndicate were lucky enough this week to visit both the Nelson Museum and Suter Gallery to see the exhibitions about one of histories greatest artists, Rembrandt. The team loved learning about the interesting life of one of the great 'masters,' and experimenting with his techniques using contrasting light and colour.

We're all unique!
We are learning about Gardner's theory of multiple intelligences so that we can understand our own of areas strength and weakness. This helps us to learn what things we need to develop further through our choices in upcoming student directed class topics.

Super Writing
Some of the talented writers from Team 18 have been going to Mrs Linyard's Enrichment group over the last few weeks. Here is what they wrote about an approaching cyclone.
It is insane. The noise is terrifying.
I’m super scared. Terrified
actually. Rain and hail are hitting me
hard on the head. SPLAT! A huge pile of
hail just smacked me on the head.
“BRRR,” I yell to my friend Cara.
“Unexpected!” she screams. The
same thing happened to her.
I hear a large crash and look up to see a house crash land not far from
me.
Isla
It is insane. The noise is
terrifying. Trees are breaking, wind is
rushing by, people are screaming and holding on for dear life! I see a Lamborghini floating out to sea and
trees that are almost horizontal.

In the Trenches!
Last Thursday was 'Trench day' in R18. The chairs were put to the side and desks arranged into rows(trenches) from the Front line through to the rest trenches at the back. Throughout the day Sgt F fired out the orders and the privates quickly responded with salutes and "Yes Sirs!!" We did a range of trench related tasks including diary writing and calculating the amount of dirt that needed to be removed from the WW1 trenches. Good fun!!? YES SIR!!

Lest we Forget!
Over the last week Team 18 have delved deep into ANZAC Day. 2 museum visits, an Assembly item and a visit from class parent expert Tim Hoffman later and it is fair to say we are near experts on the topic. Big thanks to all those parents who have assisted on trips over the last few days.
