How to make a Medieval Shield

You will need:

  • glue
  • scissors
  • cardboard
  • stapler
  • masking tape
  • craft knife
  • shield template
  • paint (and brush)
  • pencil
  • colouring pencils

1.  Pick up your cardboard and your shield template and trace around the template.

2.  Cut out your shield.

3.  Paint your shield black, blue or red.

4.  Rule across your shield with your ruler.
5.  Stick masking tape on the ruled lines so when you paint it, it will not go out of the line.
6.  Take your shield over to an adult and they will use a craft knife to cut out the overlapping bits.
7.  Paint your cross gold.
8.  Peel off your masking tape and you will end up with a straight cross.

9.  Colour your picture in and glue it on.

10.  Get your cardboard strips and staple them on
11.  There!  You have your shield.

Meg's Got Talent!

On Wednesday Meg performed in this Year's edition of HSS's Got Talent!  She sung "Love is Easy" by McFly to an impressed crowd.  "I felt really nervous, my hands were shaking,"  said Meg after her performance.  The judges thought she showed great confidence getting up on stage and singing without a backing track.  Well done Meg - you did R18 proud!

Room 18's art fun!!!!

Room 17 is first. We're going to do weaving but wait we have to listen and learn to now how to do it. This man showed us how to do it - of cause he was not in the class room he was on a video clip . Then Mrs Jordan (the student teacher) showed us again that because it was not so clear . Then we had to have a go at this awesome weaving!!! Then the bell rang for lunch so all of room 18
went for some food. After lunch we carred on with this cool weaving! but we now get the natural stuff - so cool! We used loads of natural and fabric materials! It was so fun!
After  the cool day in Room 17 well one week later  we (that's room 18 but not mr f - he had to teach another class some another type of art),well I should really tell you  what we did in room 16 well frst we  looked on the ipads for some ideas to do cave man art and after we did that fun!!!!!! sketching we got to start making the cave man art it was sooooooooooo fun!! Miss Armstrong was teaching and that was cool!

Yes, more running!

By now you've probably worked out that Team18 this year is chocka full of top quality athletes!  This was again on display on Wednesday as nearly half the class took on the best the seniors had to offer in the brand new 'King & Queen of the Hill' race to the top of the Grampions.  In the girls race, Rebecca was just pipped at the post by a fast finishing Tatiana.  Darsha, Nina and Lili also ended up in the top 10 in a field of nearly 35 mainly older girls.  In the boys it was again Nicks turn to shine, coming in an amazing 3rd behind Aidan and Euan (both y6).  Both Luke and Samuel also got in the first 10 runners.  Another great effort - I'm proud of you guys!
