How fast are you going?

Last week R18s maths class had access to the police speed radar. On a beautiful Wednesday morning we went out and recorded the speeds of vehicles going up and down Van Diemen St. We were pleasantly surprised to find only 1 out of 34 cars recorded going over the 50km speed limit. With our data gathered we worked out the range of speeds (29-60km), median speed (37km) and average speed (43.2km) of the vehicles. It was a cool practical maths experience!
